Philosophy
Swan Ballet believes that dance is one of the most beautiful and expressive art forms ever conceived. Our school combines the discipline and technique of dance in a joyful, supportive, and creative environment. We are proud to provide dance to all students in a pleasant family atmosphere. We believe that years of individual attention devoted to the students are extremely important and will have a tremendous effect on their lives in later years. Students graduate from the Swan Ballet experience enriched and enhanced by the exposure to and participation in the creative and cultural world of dance. In addition, the technique and accomplishments derived from the Swan Ballet experience provide our students with essential skills and attitudes necessary to be successful in higher educational and career endeavors.
History
Swan Ballet was established by Lilie K. Pour, or Ms. Lilie as her students know her, in 1980. She has an exceptional background in Classical Ballet. Her training began with William Doller, former head of the New York City Ballet. Additional training followed with the Royal Academy of Ballet in London and Russian technique under various Russian instructors. Ms. Lilie is also an active member of Dance Educators of America. Our highly trained faculty come from reputable institutions and companies, many with college degrees. Through positive word of mouth, Swan Ballet has now expanded to two studios in Fairfax and Chantilly with over 800 students.
